ocr: Convoys Work. In April - 1917the loss ofA Allied ships - to jeman submarines had reached its largest monthly total. In order to slow down the destruction ofs ships, a new idea ofmoving ships in convoys,or large numbers, was used. Over the next severalmonths the change was dramatic- -the number of ships lostto jeman submarine atack was cutt by more than 50 percent.
